Overview

General Introduction:
Faculty of Environmental Sciences was founded in 1995. It is the first official training unit at faculty level in the country and region for  undergraduate training in environmental sciences. Over the past 25 years of establishment and development, FES has become one of the leading centers in the country in undergraduate and postgraduate training as well as in scientific research in different fields of environmental sciences and environmental technology. Previously, there were only 18 academic and staff members, including 3 associate professors and 8 doctors. FES currently has 57 academic staff including 01 professor, 15 associate professors, 25 PhD, 11 masters and 02 bachelors.

FES has 6 departments, 1 central laboratory, 6 specialized laboratories and other supported facilities e.g. Faculty library and computer room.

Education philosophy: Learn to Apply – Learn from Practice

Slogan: High quality, Social responsibility

Vision: FES strives to become an ASEAN leading advanced and prestigious institute for training and research on environmental sciences, environmental engineering, and sustainable development by 2030.

FES has gained many achievements in education and training for many  years. Annually, FES provides about 250 Bachelors of Science in environmental sciences  with the majors of environmental management, environmental ecology, water environment, soil environment, environmental toxicology, solid waste treatment technology, polluted soil treatment technology, water and waste water treatment technology, environmental modeling and marine environment; environmental engineering, food science and technology.

Based on the long history of high-quality training, since 2010, FES has offered an international standard training program in cooperation with Indiana University, USA. FES also focuses specifically on postgraduate training and as a result, the number of postgraduate students ranks in the top 3 of VNU-HUS. Currently, FES provides  4 majors for master training and 5 doctor specialties. Annually, around 100 master students and 10 Ph.D. students enroll in the Faculty, of whom about 10 are foreign students .Owing to the strong potential of the staff and facilities, for many years, FES has been assigned and granted to host many scientific research projects at state and provincial levels. Since 2010, FES has assumed the prime responsibilities for conducting more than 30 projects from the province level to the government level, with a total budget of over 7 billion VND per year. Scientific publication of the faculty is annually roughly 70 articles in national and international journals. FES has established close relationships with many national and international universities and research institutes (USA, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Russia, Australia, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, etc.). Every year, FES has 2-4 international cooperation research projects. In the process of development, FES has received many titles and rewards such as:
