General introduction:

  • Since 1965 the Vietnamese Government has appointed the University the task of fostering and training talented pupils at high school level.
  • VNU University of Science is very proud of its High School for Gifted Students, about 450 of whom enroll annually.

  • The school is acknowledged as one of the most renowned of its kind, not only within Vietnam but also in the region.
  • Many graduates from the school have become leading experts and scientists here and abroad. Others hold important positions in the country’s universities, research and economic institutions. Among them are Prof. Dao Trong Thi, Prof. Tran Van Nhung, Prof. Phung Ho Hai, Prof. Dam Thanh Son, Prof. Ngo Bao Chau, Prof. Ngo Dac Tuan.
  • International Olympiad Prizes: IMO (26 Gold Medals, 29 Silver Medals and 15 Bronze Medals), IOI (5 Gold Medals, 16 Silver Medals and 19 Bronze Medals), IPhO (5 Gold Medals, 14 Silver Medals and 15 Bronze Medals), IChO (9 Gold Medals, 9 Silver Medals and 3 Bronze Medals) and IBO (1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal and 11 Bronze Medals).
  • The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair Prizes (Intel ISEF):  1 Fourth Award and 1 Third Award.
  • Prize, Honorary title: awarded Hero of Labor to Department of Mathematics on 2005 and Independence Order, second class to Department of Mathematics on 2015 by State President.
