OPENING CEREMONY
THE 1ST AUN-QA ASSESSMENT AT INSTITUTIONAL LEVEL
VNU UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE
Hanoi, 16th January 2017
On 16th January 2017, VNU University of Science solemnly held the Opening Ceremony of quality assurance at the institutional level according to criteria of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) at the Le Van Thiem Hall, 19 Le Thanh Tong Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, officially become the first university in Southeast Asia assessment under the AUN-QA standards.
The event will have the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Van Trinh - Director General of Office of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Kim Son - Party Secretary, President of the Vietnam National University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantana Gajaseni - Executive Director of AUN External Assessment Delegation; representatives of leaders from functional departments of the VNU and universities in the country and Southeast Asia.
In the period 2012-2015, the VNU University of Science has 6 training programs, which were assessed by the ASEAN University Network (AUN) under the AUN-QA standards, namely: bachelor programs in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Geology and Environmental Science. In particular, programs in Chemistry and Geology were marked 5.0 points which are the second-highest scoring in Southeast Asia.
The purpose of the assessment is to comprehensively strengthen the quality of education, research, services, to assess the effectiveness of the system of internal quality assurance. Therefore, the quality assurance at the institutional level will enhance purposes of ASEAN University Network towards ensuring quality universities in Southeast Asia, while objectively assessing the education quality of the VNU University of Science according the AUN-QA standards.
The quality assessment of the VNU University of Science under the AUN-QA standards has received considerable attention of educational experts and managers in Southeast Asia. In addition to the members of the external assessment delegation appointed by AUN 6 managers and leaders representing 6 universities in Southeast Asia will come to Hanoi to attend for training purpose.
The assessment program will take 05 days from 16th to 20th January 2017, during this period, the external assessment delegation will work with the Board of Presidents of Vietnam National University, Board of Rectors, officers and staff, students, alumni of the VNU University of Science and external stakeholders; visiting facilities of the University at the main and other campuses.
