As announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on August 22, 2020, six Vietnamese contestants including four from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students won medals at the 2020 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad.

UPM is the rating system, the development of which was funded by the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training, to assess the responsiveness of universities in the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) era.

VNU University of Science (VNU - HUS) held a ceremony to announce the appointment of their new principal for the 2020 - 2025 term, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Sc. Vũ Hoàng Linh on May 22nd, 2020.

On May 8th 2020, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Kim Sơn, Director of Vietnam National University (VNU) signed decision No. 1368/QĐ-ĐHQGHN to appoint Assoc.Prof.Dr.Sc. Vũ Hoàng Linh, formerly Vice Principal of VNU University of Science (VNU - HUS), to be the new Principal of VNU - HUS.
