All four students in the Vietnamese team have brought home a medal at the 34th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2022) hosted by Indonesia.
On August 7, 2022, Cybermetrics Labs (under the Spanish National Research Council) announced the second Webometrics rankings of 2022. Accordingly, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) ranked 758th among the world’s top 800 universities.

All four Vietnamese students win gold at Int’l Chemistry Olympiad 2022.
Vo Hoang Hai, a 10th grader from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students won gold medal at the International Physics Olympiad 2022 (IPhO 2022). Hai has become the first 10th grader of Vietnam to have participated in such a contest and won the gold medal.
All six Vietnamese high-school students competing at the 2022 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) secured medals, with two golds, two silvers, and two bronzes. The results placed Việt Nam in 4th position out of the 104 teams participating in the competition, behind China, the Republic of Korea, and the United States.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, VNU will start piloting fully-funded scholarships for basic science students from VNU University of Science and VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities, including exemption of tuition and dormitory fees; priority to participate in scientific research and the Scientist incubation program; priority consideration for other scholarships and a 20-million-VND living allowance per school year.
In order to further promote cooperation, research and exchange activities between Vietnam and Korea in the field of land management and geospatial information, an international symposium on sustainable land management and geospatial information technology was held on June 29, 2022, by the Faculty of Geography (VNU-HUS) in coordination with the Korea Cadastral Information Association, Geospatial Information Research Institute - Korea Land and Geospatial Corporation.
As geospatial information science plays an increasingly important role in modern society, there is a need to improve the quality of research and training in this field. Given this fact, an MOU was on June 28, 2022 between VNU-HUS and the Korea National Institute of Geographic Information, thus also helped strengthening their mutual relation in the future.
