IMO 2021: VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students contestants win three medals

On July 23, 2021, the Organizing Committee of the International Mathematics Olympiad 2021 (IMO 2021) announced the results of this year's contest. Accordingly, all six Vietnamese contestants won medals, including one gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

Do Bach Khoa, a 12th grader from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, won a gold medal.

The two silver medalists were Dinh Vu Tung Lam and Truong Tuan Nghia – 12th graders from the High School for Gifted Students (VNU University of Science).

The three bronze medals went to Phan Huu An, a 12th grader from the High School for Gifted Students (VNU University of Science); Vu Ngoc Binh, an 11th grader from Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted; and Phan Huynh Tuan Kiet, a 12th grader fƯrom Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in Ho Chi Minh City.

With the above-named six medals, Vietnam ranked 14th among 107 countries and territories participating in the contest, up three notches compared to last year’s event. Vietnam also topped Southeast Asia in this year’s contest.

The 62nd International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO 2021) hosted by the Russian Federation, was a virtual event administered on July 19-20. In Vietnam, the contest was held at VNU University of Science and Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in Ho Chi Minh City.
