High School for Gifted Students won 2 gold medals in the International Chemistry Olympiad 2017

On July 14th, Department of Quality Assurance (Ministry of Education and Training) announced the record of Vietnamese team in ICHO 2017 held in Thailand.

On July 14th, Department of Quality Assurance (Ministry of Education and Training) announced the record of Vietnamese team in ICHO 2017 held in Thailand. All four members of the team were awarded medals, consisting of 3 golds, and 1 silver.

The result is unprecedentedly high over Vietnamese records at the ICHO.

The four Vietnamese ICHO medalists

In particular, Mr. Dinh Quang Hieu (Grade 12 student of HSGS) captured his gold medal with the record of 92.12/100, ranked 9th out of 297 participants. Mr. Nguyen Bang Thanh Lam (Grade 12 student of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the gifted Students) marked 89.67/100, ranked 20th, won gold medal. Mr. Pham Duc Anh (Grade 11 student of HSGS) won gold with 89.46/100, ranked 21st. The silver belongs to Mr. Hoang Nghia Tuyen (Grade 12 student of Phan Boi Chau High School for Gifted Students, Nghe An province) with 85.91/100.

The ICHO 2017 had 297 participants from 76 nations. According to the unofficial record, The US team ranked 1st with 4 golds; Vietnam and China team shared the 2nd place with 3 golds and 1 silver.

In 2016 ICHO, Mr. Dinh Quang Hieu contributed 1 gold to Vietnam record of 2 golds and 1 silver.
