On the morning of July 8, 2024, at the VNU University of Science, Hanoi, a formal signing ceremony took place for the cooperation agreement with National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan, regarding training and research in the field of Semiconductor Technology, with the goal of launching a new Bachelor's program in Semiconductor Technology.

On the afternoon of June 28, 2024, the VNU University of Science, Hanoi, was delighted to welcome Prof. Sir David Neil Payne, one of the scientists who contributed to breakthroughs in the fields of optics, photonics, and optical signal transmission (fiber optics), which have opened the era of high-speed signal transmission and internet we have today.

All seven Vietnamese students competing at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2024 won medals, including one gold and six silver medals, as announced on May 31 by the Ministry of Education and Training.

In 2024, four VNU’s scientists continued to be named in the world ranking of Reseach.com and led Vietnam in 3 fields, namely: Prof.Dr.Sc Nguyen Dinh Duc - Engineering and Technology, Prof.Dr. Pham Hung Viet & Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tu Binh Binh - Environmental Sciences, and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Hoang Son – Computer Science.

On the morning of May 22, 2024, representatives of the leadership from VNU University of Science, Hanoi, and the Faculty of Environment had a meeting with a delegation from the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, University of Minnesota, USA.

On the morning of May 15, 2024, the VNU University of Science, Hanoi held a meeting and discussion with representatives from Intel Vietnam regarding a collaboration plan to organize an AI training course for students in the near future.

According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, Vietnam needs at least 50,000 engineers in the semiconductor industry by 2030, which is 10 times the current figure, to secure its place on the global technology map. As a pioneering institution in training human resources for this field, the VNU University of Science, Hanoi (VNU-HUS), has been committed to fostering and developing partnerships and training programs in semiconductor technology for over a decade​.

On the morning of March 18, 2024, the opening ceremony of the short-term training course "Application of Conservation Genetics and Forensic Science in Wildlife Protection" took place at the VNU University of Science. The course is part of the international scientific research cooperation between VNU University of Science, the German Primate Center, and Lingnan University, Hong Kong, China.
