On November 6, 2024, the leadership of VNU University of Science (VNU-HUS) held a working session with a delegation from the College of Engineering, National Chung Cheng University (CCU), Taiwan to explore collaboration opportunities in materials science and artificial intelligence.
Strengthening Academic Ties between VNU-HUS and CCU

Representing VNU-HUS were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngạc An Bang, Vice Rector; Dr. Lê Hữu Tuyến, Deputy Head of the Office of Development Cooperation; and leaders from the Faculty of Physics and the Faculty of Mathematics, Mechanics and Informatics.

The College of Engineering at National Chung Cheng University was established in 1989 and currently comprises five departments and graduate institutes:
- Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering
- Department of Electrical Engineering
- Department of Mechanical Engineering
- Department of Chemical Engineering
- Department of Communication Engineering
- Institute of Optomechatronics
CCU is known for its diverse academic programs, state-of-the-art laboratories, and modern learning environment, attracting talented students and outstanding faculty from around the world.
A Foundation of Scientific Collaboration
During the meeting, Dr. Đỗ Quang Lộc, Deputy Head of the Department of Radiophysics, shared that the Faculty of Physics and CCU have had a longstanding relationship in scientific research. Over the past year, several faculty members participated in research projects at CCU, laying the groundwork for deeper and more official cooperation moving forward.

Prof. Dr. Her-Terng Yau, head of the CCU delegation, emphasized the university's focus on partnerships with leading corporations in automation, chip manufacturing, computer science, and AI, notably including TSMC.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Linh from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering provided additional details on CCU’s Master’s and PhD programs, and proposed exchange programs and international internships ranging from 6 months to 1 year, to enhance global integration for students.
Toward Concrete Cooperation
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngạc An Bang, Vice Rector of VNU-HUS, expressed his pleasure at the ongoing collaborative achievements and future potential. He also highlighted the success of the joint Master’s program in Semiconductor Technology between VNU-HUS and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (Taiwan), where most students received scholarships and internships at companies like TSMC and Microsoft. Many graduates continued with PhD studies in Australia, Singapore, or France, or joined global corporations.

He expressed hope that both sides would proceed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and develop a detailed implementation plan to build a more substantive and sustainable partnership.
Academic Exchange and Graduate Program Promotion
As part of the visit, the CCU delegation held an information session to introduce their graduate programs to students of the Faculty of Physics at VNU-HUS.
Photos from the visit include gift exchanges between Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngạc An Bang and Prof. Dr. Her-Terng Yau, symbolizing the commitment of both institutions to long-term collaboration.
