On Thursday, November 02, 2017, the signing ceremony between the VNU University of Science (HUS) and the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (NMHS) was held at the main campus of VNU-HUS under the witness of the governing board, heads of administration offices, members and staff from both of two sides.

The purpose of the MOU was cited in the ceremony that to create a link between training and using human resources to meet the social requirements, attaching importance to recruiting students graduated in hydro-meteorology and oceanography from the VNU-HUS, strengthen the cooperation and exchanges of information between the VNU-HUS and the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service in order to improve the level of teaching and learning, scientific research, study and skills of staff of two units in meteorology, hydrology and oceanography, contribute to the training and development of high-quality human resources for the meteorological and hydrological sector in the process of modernization.

Spoken at the ceremony, Mr. Le Cong Thanh - General Director highly appreciated the quality of education of the VNU-HUS, especially the students of the Faculty of Hydrology, Meteorology and Oceanography. He said that it has been and will continue to recruit students of the University to work at NMHS.

On the HUS’s side, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi - the Rector of HUS and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Dean of Faculty of Hydrology, Meteorology and Oceanography highlighted the long-term relationship between the two sides. Rector and Dean hope that, through this signing ceremony, the two sides will support each other more so that the cooperation continues to develop, sustainable. It is expected that the Faculty of Meteorology, Hydrology and Oceanography will open two new curriculums on Climate Change and Water Resources, while improving the quality of teaching and international quality assurance. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Son commented that the demand for human resources in meteorology and hydrology in the coming time is quite high. Therefore, the comprehensive cooperation between the University and the Center will contribute to addressing the issues of the two sides, attaching importance to linking training with practice, scientific research and the need for human resources.

Specifically, the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service will contribute ideas in the development and compilation of curricula and training programs in meteorology, hydrology and oceanography, contributing to support the University in updated research, supplementing and compiling curriculums and training programs suitable to the requirements of work, modernization and development of the Hydrometeorology.

The National Meteorology and Hydrology Service will provide students with internships; cooperate with lecturers of the University in scientific research, conduct research projects, scientific projects ... The University will study the implementation of solutions to improve the quality of input enrollment in meteorology, hydrography and oceanography to obtain high quality bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees to meet the requirements of the Hydrometeorology.

With the support of the NMHS, the University will study to build a scholarship fund to support students of the Faculty of Hydrology, Meteorology and Oceanography who have excellent academic achievements, have mechanisms to encourage the students to be excellent after being transferred to study in meteorology, hydrology and oceanography with the preferential mechanism of receiving and recruiting specialists to work in the Hydrometeorology after graduation.

The VNU University of Science will study the development of appropriate and effective training and retraining programs in order to update professional knowledge for Hydrometeorology officials, especially the staff who work in local, remote, border and island areas.
