VNU-HUS student group wins Third Prize at the Creator Vietnam Contest with Intel Galileo 2015

On 22 January 2016, at the finale of the Creative Vietnam Contest with Intel Galileo 2015 (VMIG 2015), a student group of the VNU University of Science won third prize with the topic "Environmental monitoring stations and early warning of natural disasters ".

Responding to the Creative Vietnam Contest with Intel Galileo 2015 (VMIG 2015) of the Centre for Development of Science, Technology and Young Talent of the HoChiMinh Communist Youth Union, the  VNU-HUS student group worked together to discuss and shape the idea as well as planning and assigning work in order to implement the project for the competition.

The chosen topic "Environmental monitoring stations and early warning of natural disasters" was coordinated and implemented by Dinh Thi Hai, Nguyen Thi Trang (both of the Faculty of Physics) and Ngo Quoc Hung (Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics). The topic is not only use basic scientific knowledge but also has highly practical applications.

After considering 141 ideas from 31 universities and academies, the VNU-HUS group was selected for the preliminary round consisting of 50 teams. The group was supported by the board of Intel Galileo and by a grant of 2 million Vietnamese Dong from the contest organizers.

With the effort, determination, the VNU-HUS group has successfully passed the others teams to reach the final round of 16 teams, of which there are very strong technical team as the Da Nang University of Technology, Can Tho University, the University of technical Education Hung Yen, ... In the finals, the VNU-HUS group is one of four teams to register presentations in English and won the final three. Three members of the team honoured to receive the Certificate of Merit from the HoChiMinh Communist Youth Union.
