On the morning of May 15, 2024, the VNU University of Science, Hanoi held a meeting and discussion with representatives from Intel Vietnam regarding a collaboration plan to organize an AI training course for students in the near future.
Welcoming and working with Ms. Bui Le Thuy Linh, the representative of Intel Vietnam, on behalf of the VNU-HUS were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngac An Bang, Vice Rector of the university; along with representatives of the leadership from the Faculty of Mathematics - Mechanics - Informatics, the Faculty of Physics, and the Office of Cooperation and Development.
At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngac An Bang shared information about a recent meeting with the Director of Intel Vietnam that took place the previous week. During the meeting, VNU-HUS proposed to Intel Vietnam the idea of participating in research labs (joint labs). Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngac An Bang highlighted that data science and semiconductor technology are currently two of the most appealing fields at the university. Specifically, out of 150 newly admitted graduate students, two-thirds are enrolled in Data Science. Furthermore, over the past year, the university and the Faculty of Mathematics - Mechanics - Informatics have set up two new laboratories equipped with 70 modern computers. Regarding the training of high-quality human resources in semiconductor technology, the Faculty of Physics, which offers Electronics and Informatics Engineering, has garnered significant societal interest. In the near future, the university will sign an agreement with National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University in Taiwan to launch an undergraduate program in semiconductor technology. Simultaneously, for many years, VNU-HUS has been a leader in offering a master's program in semiconductor technology in collaboration with Taiwan. Participants in this program have the opportunity to intern and work at major companies such as TSMC and Micron.…
Based on the memorandum of cooperation between Intel US and the Government of Vietnam, signed through the Ministry of Education and Training, concerning plans to assist in AI training for Vietnam, Ms. Bui Le Thuy Linh, Sales Director for Government, Education, and Healthcare at Intel Vietnam, introduced the content of the AI for Future Workforce course, which will begin in early June 2024, as well as the OpenAPI advanced training program. In this program, Intel will invite international experts to teach, and participants who complete the course and pass the final exam will be awarded a certificate.
Ms. Bui Le Thuy Linh also shared that Intel currently offers various programs for talented students. After registering, students can access Intel's global lecture system. Faculty members can also refer to the educational resources on this platform to develop their own lectures. Specifically, the "Intel Digital Readiness Program," which Intel Vietnam has signed with the Ministry of Education and Training, has been adopted by 45 countries, with around 30,000 universities, institutes, and schools participating. Intel Vietnam hopes that VNU-HUS will be the next institution to join and collaborate in this program.
The representative from Intel Vietnam committed to connecting with other companies such as FPT, CMT, HTPT, and IBM to develop internship and practical training programs for the university's students.
Regarding job and internship opportunities for students, Dr. Do Thanh Ha, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics - Mechanics - Informatics, extended an invitation for Intel to participate in the upcoming career day events organized by both the faculty and the university.
