On Thursday 27th October 2016, the Rector of VNU University of Science – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi had a meeting with Prof. Dr. Victor Mocanu – Dean of Faculty of Geology and Geophysics, University of Bucharest. Accompanying were the representatives of the Dean of Faculty of Geology – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Vuong and the Head of Office of International Relations and Administrations – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Minh Duc, VNU University of Science and Dr. Cung Thuong Chi, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung from the Institute of Geology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
Speaking at the opening, Rector of VNU University of Science - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi introduced briefly the University of Science as one of the leading universities and research institutions in basic sciences of Vietnam.
VNU University of Science has suggested some content of joint research programs with the University of Bucharest in cooperation with the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics. The issues of exchanging students programs, scholarships, funding of training activities, joint research programs were mutually discussed. Two sides would like to expand cooperation by signing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between two universities in the near future.
After the meeting, Prof. Dr. Victor Mocanu had a lecture for students from the Faculty of Geology with the topic “Mantle flow under the Carpathian seismogenic zone”. The lecture is in an international standard program of the University of Bucharest.
