On March 24–25, 2025, VNU University of Science (VNU-HUS) coordinated with Micron Technology to organize a recruitment and scholarship interview program for students, graduate students, and alumni of the university. As a leading enterprise in the semiconductor industry, Micron Technology not only seeks specialized personnel in the field but also values candidates with a solid foundation in fundamental sciences, including Computer Science and Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, and Environmental Science. In addition to VNU-HUS students, the event also attracted engineering students from various universities in Hanoi.
This program marks a significant step forward in the partnership between VNU-HUS and Micron Technology, aiming to supply high-quality human resources not only for domestic enterprises but also for global partners, particularly in the semiconductor and high-tech industries.
Strategic Partnership Between VNU-HUS and Micron Technology
At the working session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngac An Bang, Vice Rector of VNU-HUS, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Micron Technology delegation. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between academia and industry in training and developing high-quality human resources. The university is always open to feedback from businesses to improve its training programs, ensuring students are equipped with the necessary skills to meet the practical demands of the semiconductor sector.
VNU-HUS has been running a Master's program in Semiconductor Technology in collaboration with NYCU (Taiwan) for the past six years. Beginning next academic year, the university will launch an undergraduate program in semiconductor technology and expand its offerings in the Faculties of Mathematics–Mechanics–Informatics, Physics, and Chemistry to develop interdisciplinary human resources for the semiconductor industry.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngac An Bang highly appreciated Micron Technology’s decision to choose VNU-HUS as a key recruitment hub in Hanoi and pledged the university’s continued support to help Micron meet its human resource needs. He also expressed the university’s interest in collaborating with Micron on guest lectures and experience-sharing sessions, allowing students to gain exposure to the latest knowledge and skills in the industry.
Representatives from the university’s faculties acknowledged Micron’s trust in the quality of the university’s training programs and students. The faculties are ready to receive feedback and recommendations from Micron to continuously improve training quality and better meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the semiconductor field.
Career and Scholarship Opportunities from Micron Technology
This visit marks Micron’s second recruitment event at VNU-HUS following a session in April 2024, reinforcing the company’s strong commitment to discovering and nurturing Vietnamese talent. This round of interviews focused on internship and full-time positions at Micron's facilities in Taiwan and Japan.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Ha, Deputy Head of the Office of Cooperation and Development, about 60 candidates were interviewed, nearly 40 of whom were students or alumni from VNU-HUS — a testament to the university’s training quality and Micron’s interest in its talent pool.
Before the interviews, Micron representatives hosted an information session with students, introducing the company’s working environment, benefits, and career development pathways. Particularly, Mr. Le Ngoc Long — an alumnus of the university’s K62 cohort and a current Micron employee after completing the joint Master’s program between VNU-HUS and NYCU — shared valuable insights into scholarship and career opportunities at Micron. He emphasized that Micron is an ideal environment for those passionate about semiconductor technology and aspiring to build a global career.
A Strategic Move Toward Vietnam’s Global Semiconductor Integration
With the rapid growth of the semiconductor industry and increasing demand for skilled professionals, the partnership between VNU-HUS and Micron Technology represents a strategic initiative to elevate Vietnam’s position on the global technology map.
