Increasing Cooperation Opportunities with Taiwanese Universities

As part of the 2023 Taiwanese University Education Exhibition, a delegation of Taiwanese universities visited and met with the leadership of the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU HUS) on October 13, 2023.

The Taiwanese universities that attended the meeting and exchanged information included: Mingshin University of Science and Technology, Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, College of Health Sciences and College of Nursing-Kaohsiung Medical University, Yuanpei University of Medical Technology, along with representatives from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam.

Representing VNU HUS at the meeting were Prof. Vu Hoang Linh, Rector of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Son, Vice-Rector of the University; Dr. Le Huu Tuyen, Head of the Department for Cooperation and Development; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pho Duc Tai, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics - Mechanics - Informatics; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham The Hai, Dean of the Faculty of Biology; and Dr. Pham Van Thanh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physics.

In his welcoming speech, Prof. Vu Hoang Linh expressed hope that this meeting and exchange would lay the groundwork for Taiwanese universities to understand more about VNU HUS, thereby building future training and research cooperation opportunities.

Representing VNU HUS, Dr. Le Huu Tuyen, Deputy Head of the Department for Cooperation and Development, provided an overview of the University, its training fields, research strengths, and existing cooperative relationships with Taiwanese universities and others worldwide.

Following the information from VNU HUS, representatives from the Taiwanese universities also shared overviews of their institutions and the training fields they offer. Most of the strengths of the Taiwanese universities lie in the areas of science and technology, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, and health.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham The Hai, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, noted similarities between the training fields of the Faculty and the fields of medicine, pharmacy, and health offered by many of the universities and institutes at the meeting. With an overview of the Faculty and its training fields, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham The Hai hoped to build cooperative relationships with Taiwanese universities in developing strong areas of both in the future.

As a unit with many years of cooperation with Taiwanese educational institutions, Dr. Pham Van Thanh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physics, engaged in in-depth discussions directly addressing the different characteristics and training strengths of each university. Based on this, the Faculty of Physics can easily build and develop effective cooperative relationships.

For the first time visiting VNU HUS, the direct meeting and exchange provided a necessary basis for developing cooperative relations between the units in the upcoming phase. It is hoped that in the future, many cooperative relationships between VNU HUS and Taiwanese educational institutions will be established and developed.
