Overview of the Seminar
VNU-HUS was represented by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi - Rector, Assoc. Prof. Sc. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh - Vice Rector in association with Prof. Dr. Antonio Largo Cabrerizo – Rector of UVa.
The event was honored to welcome Mr. Miguel Moro, the Spanish Deputy Ambassador and Ms. Mencía Manso de Zúñiga, the First Secretary for the Embassy of Spain in Vietnam, as well as numerous scientists from universities in Vietnam and internationally.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi - Rector of VNU-HUS opened the seminar
During the opening remarks of the Seminar, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi stated that “UVa is among the most important partners to VNU-HUS. Over the last few years, we have worked together to develop mobility and capacity building projects under the Erasmus+ framework”. Principal Nguyen Van Noi said that thanks to these projects, many professors and students of the University of Science have undergone a short-term exchange process at UVa. In addition, VNU-HUS welcomes UVa professors to teach and continue to discuss cooperation opportunities.
Prof. Dr. Antonio Largo Cabrerizo - Rector of UVa introduced the University.
"Basic sciences and interdisciplinary sciences are our key research priorities. Therefore, VNU-HUS would like to expand the partnership with UVa into many other areas of expertise which may include but are not limited to Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Earth Sciences" said Rector Nguyen Van Noi.
The BioEcoNet project has been funded for three years, beginning at the end of 2017. This is one of several projects of Erasmus + implemented by VNU University of Science. This project is jointly operated by VNU University of Science (as a coordinator for Vietnam), Eberswalder University (European Coordinator), University of Valladolid (Spain), University of Applied Sciences Southern Finland, Vietnam National University of Forestry and Thai Nguyen Agriculture and Forestry University.
The Erasmus + project aims to develop a master's degree program, with the goal of creating sustainable value in the field of bio-economics, equipping universities and students with new skills, methods and knowledge. .
A presentation on the field of Forest based Bioeconomy was made at the seminar.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Huy - Dean of Faculty of Biology and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vu Van Manh - Faculty of Environmental Science, VNU-HUS present on “Bioactive compounds from natural extracts based on social use, efficiency, sustainability and bioeconomy in the North of Vietnam”.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Sam - Director of International Cooperation Division and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Thu Ha - Vietnam National University of Forestry gave a presentation on “Forestry based on the bioeconomy in Vietnam: Development trends and perspectives”.
Dr. Do Ngoc Son - Vice Dean of Faculty of Forestry, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry gave a presentation on “Forestry based on the bioeconomy in Vietnam: Development trends and perspectives”.
MSc. Ruben Saornil - Collaborator of iuFOR-UVa presented “Identifying areas for Spanish-Vietnamese cooperation on Bioeconomy”.
Prof.Dr. Felipe Bravo - Chair and Director of Research Institute, University of Valladolid makes a presentation on “Forest based bioeconomy: from data to decision”.
Dr. Irene Ruano - Researcher at UVa presents “Biomass equations: how to assess our forests”.
MSc. Olaya Mediavilla - Researcher at UVa makes a presentation on “The role of fungi in the forest based bioeconomy”.
Prof.Dr. Rosario Sierra de Grado - UVa presented “Forest Biodiversity: a broad range of opportunities”.
