VNU University of Science (VNU – HUS) held the announcement ceremony on the decision to appoint two new Vice Principals for the 2020, Prof.Dr. Lê Thành Sơn and Assoc.Prof. Ngạc An Bang.

Attending the ceremony were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Hải, Party Committee Deputy Secretary, Permanent Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Tiến Vinh, Deputy Head of the Organization and Personnel Department of VNU, Hanoi.
Representatives from VNU - HUS were Assoc.Prof.Dr.Sc. Vũ Hoàng Linh, the Principal of VNU - HUS, Party Committee Secretary; Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Văn Nội, former principal of VNU - HUS for 2014-2019 term; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Trần Huy Hổ, President of the Veteran Teacher association; and Prof.Dr. Bạch Thành Công, currently the Dean of the Department of Physics, along with other staff members from the school.
At the ceremony, Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Tiến Vinh recited decision No. 1766/QĐ-ĐHQGHN and decision No. 1768/QĐ-ĐHQGHN, signed by the President of the VNU on June 19th, 2020, on the appointment of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ngạc An Bang and Prof.Dr. Lê Thanh Sơn to be vice principals of VNU - HUS. Assoc.Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Hải announced the appointment decision and Assoc.Prof.Dr.Sc. Vũ Hoàng Linh gave flowers to congratulate the two new Vice Principals (pictured below).

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Hải, Permanent Vice President of Vietnam National University expressed: “Education and training are very challenging matters, especially for postgraduate programs. The management of school facilities is a relatively new responsibility for the newly appointed vice principals. But I have faith in them, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Sc. Vũ Hoàng Linh, and the Standing Party Committee to be cohesive and open to fluidly handle school matters.”
Mr. Linh further emphasized his faith in the two new Vice Principles in their ability to propel VNU - HUS forward during the 2020-2025 term, as well as executing the plan laid out by the School Party Committee for 2035.

Assoc.Prof.Dr Ngạc An Bang and Prof.Dr. Lê Thanh Sơn gave their gratitude to the VNU school board, Mr. Vũ Hoàng Linh, and the rest of the staff for their trust and support. The two new principals wow to strive their best to perform their assigned duties in order to secure the future of VNU - HUS and the education of Vietnam.

Prof.Dr. Lê Thanh Sơn and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ngạc An Bang were former students of the Faculty of Physics and Faculty of Chemistry, class of 1987 - 1992, University of Hanoi.
Mr. Sơn continued his graduate education after his graduation there. He enrolled in another postgraduate program in Ehime University, Japan, and successfully defended his doctoral thesis for his PhD in Chemistry degree in 1999. He became an Associate Professor in 2007, and he was awarded the title of Professor by the State Council for Professor Title of Vietnam in 2019.
Since 1995, Mr. Sơn has worked in the Faculty of Chemistry, VNU - HUS as a Chemistry, Physics, and Petroleum Chemistry teacher. From October 2010 to December 2012, he was the Vice Dean of the Faculty, and from December to present he is the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry. He is also the Vice President of Council of Science, Technology and Energy, VNU. He received a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister in 2016.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ngạc An Bang studied Solid State Physics at the University of Hanoi. He was also a researcher at the Institute of Physics, Institute of Materials Science, and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. He continued his education and research at Siegen University, Germany. He earned a Doctorate in Physics from Siegen University in 2003, and he was awarded the title of Associate Professor of Physics.
Since 2003, Assoc.Prof.Dr Ngạc An Bang has been a General Physics lecturer at the Faculty of Physics, VNU - HUS. From November 2008 to 2003, he was the Head of General Physics department. He is currently the Dean of Faculty of Physics, VNU - HUS since November 2012.
