On October 23-24, Prof. Dr. Sc. Vu Hoang Linh, Rector of VNU University of Science, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Nguyen Hai, former Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physics, visited National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) at the invitation of Prof. Edward Yi Chang, Dean of the International College of Semiconductor Technology at NYCU.
Since 2020, the international joint Master's program in Semiconductor Technology, awarded by NYCU, has been implemented at VNU University of Science. Building on this foundation, during the visit, both sides discussed the development of a combined Bachelor’s-Master’s program to meet the growing demand for high-quality human resources in the semiconductor industry and chip manufacturing in Vietnam.
The delegation from VNU University of Science was welcomed and worked with Prof. Chi-Hung Lin, Director of NYCU; Prof. Ta-Sung Lee, Deputy Director; and Prof. Edward Yi Chang, Dean of the International College of Semiconductor Technology.
During the working session, the leadership of NYCU expressed their desire to further strengthen the collaboration with VNU-HUS in semiconductor technology training and research.
As part of the visit, the delegation from VNU-HUS toured NYCU's semiconductor technology laboratories and met with Vietnamese graduate students and doctoral candidates specializing in Semiconductor Technology who are currently studying and conducting research at NYCU.

NYCU is a leading science and technology university in Taiwan, with its main campus located in Hsinchu City, home to the Hsinchu Science Park, often referred to as Taiwan’s Silicon Valley, where over 400 high-tech companies operate. The delegation from Hanoi University of Science also visited the R&D Center of TSMC, the world’s leading chip manufacturing corporation, headquartered in Hsinchu Science Park. The TSMC R&D Center, which was newly inaugurated in July 2023, employs 7,000 experts. During the visit, TSMC’s university relations department shared their successful experiences in university-industry collaboration with NYCU, including joint research at on-campus laboratories, internship programs and scholarships for students, co-training of certain courses, and the issuance of certificates…

In addition to meetings with representatives from Taiwanese universities and electronics companies, the delegation from Hanoi University of Science was warmly received by Mr. Vu Tien Dung, Head of the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, along with the Office’s Science and Technology Department. They discussed the Office's support for cooperation activities between Vietnamese and Taiwanese universities, particularly in the fields of semiconductor technology and chip manufacturing.
